Replace your original Powermatic 2A  bottom head with this upgraded carbide spriral insert head using carbide inserts.  These inserts are readily available and will reduce your costs over HSS. You can service your own machine in house by quickly changing the knives after you have rotated them 4 times.  The knives are $2.10 each and will last a long time.  In addition, the design of the head will reduce your wear and tear on the spindle bearings because the cutter takes smaller cuts instead on 2 larger cuts as with the original head. Less energy consumption is often related to spiral style heads.  These also will create less noise in your shop. In addition, you can eliminate trying to find someone who can sharpen the hss spurs which came on your powermatic, trust us we know, we sharpen the orginals, using special equipment, not found in most saw and tiool shops.
