Thanks Dave, this jointer did not have a spiral option at the time I purchased.....this is about 5-7 years old......but if I were buying today with spiral head, it would cost another $1500, Put machine back together, pressed bearings and placed new head.....after tuning it up, put a piece of 4 x 4 oak thru it and wow what a finish.....just like my Powermatic planer that came with Byrd head.....amazing difference. No more down time sharpening straight blades.....this is a cost saver.

I have been by Byrd shop.....not a big place......don't they have room to expand in those buildings.....but you are correct, prices are reasonable and they are precision tools.

Just wanted you to know that I received the cutter head yesterday. Packing was great and the
head was in perfect condition. I installed it today and it went very smoothly ...
I just love the way it performs.... The first board was as smooth as can be .... I love it....
